
President Mirziyoyev: Digital economy and e-government are top priorities for the next 5 years
On May 11, 2020 President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a government session on the widespread introduction of digital economy and e-government. On April 28, President inked a Decree on ‘Measures for the widespread introduction of the digital economy and e-government’. In January of this year during the President’s address to the Parliament, 2020 was declared the Year of Science, Education and Digital Economy.
Key points:
1. By the end of 2020, to reach high-speed mobile internet coverage up to 90 %.
2. To increase the coverage of fiber-optic communications in preschool education from 41 to 100 %, in public education - from 40 to 70 %, in healthcare - from 38 to 100 %.
3. To implement 104 projects in e-government, 87 projects in digital economy, 35 in telecommunications, 18 in IT parks and 24 in agriculture.
4. The Ministry of Transport has been instructed to deliver automated payment systems for the transportation of goods and introduce a single electronic ticket system for all modes of transport.
