UK DEFRA and Uzbekistan's Plant Quarantine Inspectorate discussed possible removal of barriers to the export of Uzbek agricultural products to the UK market via video call



On August 19, a videocall conference was held between representatives of the UK Department of the Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFRA) and the Plant Quarantine Inspectorate under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzgoskarantin), during which the issues of possible removal of barriers to the export of Uzbek agricultural products to UK market.
A list of products for export to the UK has been agreed with the British side. It includes pomegranate, cherry, plum, nectarine, apricot, persimmon, apple, pear, grapes, lemon, hot peppers and tomatoes.
At the same time, when importing fresh produce from Uzbekistan, a British importer only needs to register on the website of the Horticultural Inspectorate (PEACH) at the following link: http://ehmipeach.defra.gov.uk/Default.aspx?Module=Register.
The Uzbek exporter shall export fresh fruits and vegetables from places of production free from pests in accordance with the requirements of the "International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures" (ISPM 10) of 1999 under the supervision of territorial inspectors of the "Uzgoskarantin" Inspection. The check for pests specified in the phytosanitary certificate should be carried out no more than 14 days before the shipment of the consignment from Uzbekistan. The certificate must be signed by the responsible territorial inspector of the "Uzgoskarantin" Inspection during the same period.
